Personalized therapeutic bodywork that identifies the root cause of your pain and delivers real, measurable relief. Not just temporary symptom management.
No cookie-cutter routines. No guesswork. Each session begins with a thorough assessment and is built around your specific patterns, goals, and history. These are the core tools we work with, selected and combined based on what your body actually needs that day.
"This was different from any massage I've had before. Very slow with gradually increasing pressure, he was able to get very deep and release areas of tension without ever causing pain."
Jessica B. — Google Review
Pain rarely originates where it is felt. Our approach begins with a thorough assessment to identify the true source of your dysfunction, not just treat the symptom.
Most people have had deep tissue that left them sore for days and bracing through every stroke. That's not skill, that's force. Effective deep work releases tissue because it's applied to the right structure at the right moment, not because it overpowers it. You'll feel the difference during the session, not just after.
Sessions are built to produce a result you feel immediately. Not just during, but in the days that follow. Each visit informs the next, so care compounds over time rather than starting over every appointment.

Per-session rates reflect the member investment divided by included sessions only. Membership add-ons are additional value not reflected in this rate.
Members have access to an expanded schedule not available to the general public: Monday 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These slots are held exclusively for members and are not bookable through the standard schedule.
Life happens. Members are allowed to roll one unused session into the following month, so nothing is ever simply lost. That said, the results from this work are cumulative. Skipping a month occasionally won't set you back, but consistency is what creates the long-term change you're investing in. We'll always encourage you to use your time.
Memberships are set up directly through MassageBook. All tiers are month-to-month with no long-term contract. If you need to pause or cancel, simply let us know before your next billing date. There is no cancellation fee and no awkward conversation. If the timing isn't right, we'd rather you come back when it is.
Most members don't join because they're in crisis. They join because they've recognized a pattern and they're done waiting for it to escalate before doing something about it. Consistency is what breaks the cycle.
That's actually the best time to start. Members who begin when they feel good build a baseline that makes every session more effective. They're the ones who stay out of pain long-term, not just recover from it.
Not at all. Membership supports maintenance, performance, and long-term function. Athletes, desk workers, and active professionals use it to stay ahead of the problem, not just respond to it.
Booking as needed means competing for availability, starting reassessment from scratch each time, and treating sessions as isolated events. Membership means continuity. Each session builds on the last, and your time is held.
A Simple Exit Structure
Membership is month-to-month. If it's not the right fit after the first month, you're free to step back, no pressure, no awkwardness. We'd rather you come back when the time is right than stay when it isn't.
Not sure which tier is right?
Start with a single session. Membership is discussed after your first visit once we understand your goals and history.

"For years I thought a massage had to hurt to be effective. Shawn completely changed that for me. Incredibly effective without ever being painful."
Antonea N. — Google Review
No. Pressure is applied slowly and gradually, which allows tissue to release without the sharp discomfort most people associate with deep work. Many clients describe it as some of the most effective deep tissue work they have experienced, and also some of the most comfortable. You are always encouraged to communicate throughout the session, and pressure is adjusted based on your feedback.
Most clients notice a meaningful difference in how they move within 24 to 48 hours. Some feel immediate relief on the table. A small amount of mild soreness is normal and typically resolves quickly, similar to how your body responds after a good workout. What you should feel is less restriction, more ease, and a clearer sense of where your body was holding tension.
Most massages follow a routine. This one doesn't. Every session starts with an assessment of what your body is actually doing, where it's restricted, compensating, or holding tension, and is built around that. The techniques change based on what you need that day. The goal isn't just to feel good for a few hours. It's to change something.
For acute or chronic issues, more frequent sessions early on produce faster, more durable results, the work compounds when it's consistent. Once the underlying patterns are addressed, many clients shift to monthly maintenance to stay ahead of tension before it becomes a problem. A realistic cadence will be discussed during your first visit based on your specific situation.
No. Soreness is not the goal and is not a reliable sign of effectiveness. Some clients feel immediate relief. Others notice changes over the following 24 to 48 hours as tissue settles. What you should feel is a difference in how you move, less restriction, more ease. Pressure and depth are adjusted based on your feedback throughout the session.
Arrive hydrated and allow enough time so you are not rushed. Avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before your appointment. During the session, you will have the opportunity to privately remove any clothing you are comfortable removing, whether fully clothed, partially undressed, or fully unclothed is entirely your decision. Draping is always provided for your comfort.
Absolutely. Sessions directly address tension from prolonged sitting, screen time, and repetitive work postures. The focus is on improving mobility, correcting imbalances, and restoring functional movement patterns. Not just temporary relief from the symptoms.
Sessions are available in 60, 90, and 120-minute lengths, with longer sessions available upon request. Each session begins with a brief intake review to discuss your goals and any areas of concern, followed by a few minutes of privacy to get comfortable on the table. The session length refers to hands-on treatment time only, please plan for a few additional minutes on either side.
Tips are always appreciated but never expected. The best way to support Montana Movement & Massage is by leaving a Google review or referring a friend. That kind of feedback helps our small business far more than gratuity and means a great deal to us.
Booking is quick and easy through MassageBook. For questions about services, memberships, or to discuss your specific needs, reach out directly.

"I don't usually enjoy massages because they typically provide only very short-term relief. Working with Shawn was a completely different experience. I left feeling real, lasting relief after just one session."
